11.01.2009 You can help make "Life After" happen by donating what you can to the project. It's been a three year long process. So please, help this project come to light and be my personal hero.

10.15.2009 Virgina Madsen and her producing partner has read and LOVED "Life After". Unfortunately, shooting before the year's end is impossible with her schedule. So we have pushed the shooting date until after the new year which leaves us with a little more time to raise the funds needed to produce this screenplay.
09.01.2009 In true indie filmmaking fashion, "Life After" has once again lost funding due to 'creative differences' and thus Harry Davenport's departure from the project.
07.15.2009 "Life After" has found yet another breath and welcomes producers Mike Snyder and Harry Bromely Davenport to the project. Half of the funds have already been raised and we are looking for another $2500 to complete the film which we're set to shoot the weekend of November 6, 2009.
03.21.2008 Stacy Haiduk from the sci-fi TV series "Heroes" signed a letter of intent to star as Maggie in "Life After".

12.01.2007 The first three pages of Storyboards of "Life After" are now available. I have to admit it's been an interesting adventure to sketch out my own storyboards! I'm not as good of a pencil artist as I used to be!  Enjoy!
11.27.2007 After a short vacation, "Life After" has found a new life. I've been able to secure a Producer, Unit Production Manager, Consulting Producer from someone who has over 25 years experience and the script is in the hands of a very prominent actor. The investors packet is almost complete and I've been working hard on the storyboards. I'm used to drawing for fun and release, this is something entirely different and honestly, my 'meaty stick figures"  do show camera angle and framing for each shot. I'll post some soon so you too can point and snicker.

7.15.2007

"Life After" has been nominated (with four others) for best Short Script and Best Dramatic Scene in the 2007 Action On Film Festival. I will be attending the award ceremony on July 26th which in is Long Beach.
7.11.2007 Just to give a little perspective on Film Festivals and your winnings vs. your losses... As stated on withoutabox.com, if you can receive entry into film festivals 25% of the time, you've got a great thing going. Thus far, "Life After" has not only been accepted but has placed in 44% of the film festivals it's been entered into. In dollars that's approx. $900 is entry fees and  $500 in winnings. But I have faith that I'll receive the accreditation this script deserves and the chance to finally direct it.
7.10.2007 "Life After" has won 2nd Place in the Woods Hole Film Festival Screenplay Competition.
7.02.2007 I have recently received feedback from the DC Short Film Festival about my short "Life After". I've yet to receive word if I've made it into the finals but I found it very interesting and helpful in my writing to read the review. Though not all positive, I thought I would share.

"DC Shorts is proud to be one of only a handful of the thousands of film festivals to give this feedback...

Score: Content 20/25 Style 23/25 Originality 20/25 Producing 21/25 Total 74/100

Feedback: The story unfolds in a very interesting fashion. The time shifts are reminiscent of Arriaga, and they really kept me intrigued throughout the script. The story is a basic one told in a unique way, and the attention paid to the visual aspect of the entire script really adds to the entire piece. One of the most touching moments was when David walks Maggie through the door because of the obvious visual contrast to the dialogue. You aren't afraid to kill off your characters which is a real asset. This works for shock value, but you also used it to enhance the story which in turn made the piece memorable. The characters seemed a little general. I was caught up in the story because the situation is universally appalling, but looking back, I could not say I really connected to the characters. I connected much more strongly to the plot. The ending is really heartbreaking. That bittersweet yet hopeful moment is a nice contrast from the harshness of the play. It's a piece with a great construct and insightful writing, I just wish there was a little more connection to the characters."

7.01.2007 "Life After" (previously titled "Maggie") has won Honorable Mention at The Indie Gathering script competition.
6.30.2007 "Life After" (previously titled "Maggie") has been accepted into the Action On International Film Festival script competition. Awards will be announced at their closing ceremony here in Long Beach, CA on July 29th.
6.17.2007 "Life After" did not win the film festival that would have helped with the production funds.

Next step, shooting a 6 page short in one night (A Vampire Story) to put in the package I'm going to be sending out to 'A' listers to help show that I can direct. I'm hoping to shoot in late July or August.

THIS is exactly why it takes producers 10 years to do a project. I'm shooting for 1 year.  4 months down, 8 to go. ek!

6.7.2007 Well, the great stalking of celebrities has been officially been put on hold for two reasons. 1) I find out about a 100k (in goods and services) prize on June 17th. That could change a lot of things for the production. 2) I'm going to shoot another short first to prove I can direct and SHOULD help me open up a few more doors for this 'first time director'.

The new short I'll be shooting in July/August. I'm finalizing the 9 page script now and trying to get it down to 6.

3.23.2007 Letters/Packets are sent out to 'A' list actors in order to obtain "Letters of Intent". Let the waiting game begin!
3.21.2007 To date, I've been approached by two separate directors to direct "Life After".  I've decided to stick to my guns and follow my own passion to direct my short. The script has already proven itself, now its time to prove myself.
3.16.2007 An investor has stepped forward and has guaranteed a percentage of the budget BUT money won't exchange hands until I have the letters of intent in my hands.
02.20.2007 In talks with Anthony Huneycutt of MoviePlacement.com for possible product placement with Lowe's or Home Depot.
02.18.2007 After a third win with her script "Life After", Carrie Lynn Certa decides to go into development with a tentative shoot date in June or July of 2007 -subject to change due to actors schedules.
